NEW YORK CITY (December 5, 2013) — For the past five years, Determined to Educate, Inc. has been honoring individuals at their Annual Awards Fundraising Gala for their dedication to youth and their communities. The event, held during what they have named the Year of the Phenomenal Woman, took place at the Grand Ballroom in New York City and featured a silent auction, dinner and ceremony to recognize the 2013 award recipients. Among them was South Bronx Job Corps Center Director Brenda Jenifer who received the Educator of the Year award.
Determined to Educate’s CEO and Founder Cindy Senyah Baah was excited to present Ms. Jenifer with the award.
“The passion that Ms. Jenifer shows all of her students makes my heart melt,” Ms. Baah said. “She is dedicated to ensuring that each one of her students is able to learn and be the best they can be. She ensures their safety and redefines the meaning of ‘It takes a village to raise a child.’ Ms. Jenifer is being honored by Determined To Educate with the 2013 Educator Of The Year Award for her courage, her strengths and her compassion in helping the young people in ‘our villages’ succeed in education and in life. I congratulate her again on such a well-deserved award.”
Ms. Jenifer was humbled and honored to receive the award.
“It’s an honor to be celebrated for doing that which one loves. It has always been my pleasure to serve the underserved.”
