Disability Services

ResCare is the country’s leading provider of services to people with developmental disabilities. This term refers to serious disabilities that appear before the age of 22. Most of the people with disabilities we serve have a cognitive or intellectual impairment, others have physical challenges, and many have both.

Most of the services are paid for through Medicaid. Each state has its own criteria for services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. ResCare is a provider of these services in 33 states to nearly 29,000 people of all ages.

Services we provide include:

  • Group Homes: Several people live in one home with extensive support from staff.
  • Supported Living: One to a few people live in a house or apartment and get staff support customized for their needs.
  • Drop-in or In-home Services: People live independently or with their families and receive periodic help such as personal care or housekeeping.
  • Foster or Companion Care: A person with a disability lives with a person or family to whom they are not related.
  • Vocational and Habilitation Services: People attend classes to learn life skills and job skills or receive support to find and hold down a job.
