Bowling for dreams

Kimberley Miller, Special Olympics Bowler, gets bronze medal

(Bowling Green, KY) A dream turned into reality in November for Kimberley Miller. The Bowling Green resident and bowling enthusiast secured her third place spot on the championship podium in the Regional Special Olympics Finals.

"It was a big accomplishment for me to get third place instead of fourth," said Ms. Miller. "I didn't step over the foul line!"

At her last individual support plan meeting, Ms. Miller stated that one of her goals was to get back in Special Olympics.

"Kim has always liked bowling," said Angel Bailey, support coordinator for ResCare's Community Alternatives Kentucky, which provides services to Ms. Miller. "She told me that her father was a bowler, and she used to bowl with him. That's why she chose bowling."

To qualify for the tournament, Ms. Miller had to bowl 10 games. She bowled every Wednesday night during September and October and successfully completed these requirements. "It was my goal," said Ms. Miller.
