ResCare New Jersey Operation Earns Three-Year Accreditation

LOUISVILLE, KY (May 23, 2006) — ResCare, Inc. (NASDAQ: RSCR), the nation's leading provider of residential, training, education and support services for people with developmental and other disabilities, youth with special needs and adults with barriers to employment, today announced that the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) has awarded ResCare New Jersey with their highest award, a three-year accreditation. ResCare New Jersey, which has been part of the ResCare family since 1997, provides residential, community and personal and social services to 128 people with developmental and other disabilities in eight counties.

CARF is an independent, non-profit accreditor of human service providers in the areas of rehabilitation, employment, child and family, community and aging services. To attain accreditation by CARF, ResCare New Jersey underwent a rigorous review conducted by professionals who observed their programs and services. Reviewers also interviewed people receiving services, their family members and ResCare New Jersey staff.

CARF surveyors specifically praise ResCare’s staff members. The reviewers stated, “Staff members are dedicated and well qualified for the services they provide and the work they do. The newly appointed executive director and an excellent administrative team comprise a very impressive and skilled group of professionals.”

The reviewers also praised ResCare staff’s responsiveness to the needs of the people they serve. “There is a noticeable commitment to improving the quality of their lives,” CARF states in the survey summary.
