Excel Academy Featured on T.V. News Show

By Lucie Juneau Patrowicz

(Monroe, LA) A recent story on Monroe, Louisiana’s KNOE T.V. news program focused on Richland Parish’s Excel Academy, an alternative high school devoted to helping struggling students achieve academic success, earn their diplomas, and envision a future beyond the classroom.

Operated by ResCare, Excel schools combine proven educational practices such as smaller classrooms and individual instruction with innovative strategies that encourage students to assume greater responsibility for their performance. As noted in the T.V. news story, entitled “Struggling Students Get a Second Chance at Graduation,” students who choose to attend the Academy must sign a contract indicating their commitment to the program. Among Excel’s rules is a requirement that students come to school every day dressed for success, in business attire.
